Today I published my first of hopefully many articles on Justia's Legal Marketing & Technology Blog. This announcement post was about the release of Justia's new Legal Answers service. Check out the full article to find out more about this exciting new service.
We want to encourage everyone to check out Justia Legal Answers, an online forum we recently launched to help consumers connect with attorneys.
How it Works
It’s easy! Just enter a legal question in the Ask a Lawyer form located at Justia Legal Answers or in the right-hand column of many Justia pages. Anyone can post a question free of charge without registering. However, if you do sign up for a Justia account, you may elect to receive email alerts whenever a lawyer answers your question.
Only registered attorneys can answer questions. As part of the registration process, Justia reviews a lawyer’s credentials to ensure that he or she is licensed to practice law. Registered attorneys also have profiles in the Justia Lawyer Directory – anyone may visit those profiles to review an individual attorney’s qualifications.
At Justia, we believe in doing well by doing good. We want to reward lawyers for providing legal information and contributing to the growing amount of free legal content online. Justia Legal Answers publicly recognizes lawyers who answer questions by displaying their name and photo (if provided) next to their answer. Each attorney’s name is then linked back to his or her Justia Lawyer Directory profile. Additionally, we award karma points to attorneys for their answers, and those attorneys who have accrued the most points appear on a variety of leaderboards throughout our site.
Justia Lawyer Directory now features a new “Legal Answers” tab, which appears on the profiles of attorneys who have answered a question in Justia Legal Answers. This tab displays the questions an attorney has answered. Your answers are available as an RSS feed, which may be embedded on other web sites.
We also feature recently answered questions in the sidebar throughout various Justia sites. This provides even more exposure to lawyers who help answer questions.
