Hours away from Vacation

I’m mere hours away from taking a little vacation to Las Vegas along with my wife, and my roommate. Tomorrow morning I will board a Virgin America flight (I’m much looking forward to trying them out), for Las Vegas.

I’ve got a lot of fun planned, including one last trip to the Star Trek Experience in the Las Vegas Hilton. In fact making a final voyage to the Experience was my primary reason for visiting Vegas this month. This will be my fourth Voyage there (blogged about before on my blog, I’ll edit this post with links to my old posts later), and I’m sad it will be my last, but unfortunately the Experience will be Closing on September 1st permanently, so I had to make one last trip. This will be Mike’s first trip to the future, and he’s eager to see what he has only heard about.

But this trip won’t be all Star Trek, on Thursday Night, Barbara and I will be seeing Mamma Mia. We’ve seen the movie and are both looking forward to seeing the play as well. On Friday Night we will be going Medievil, and enjoying the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur, another great treat.

In addition to all that planned fun, we are also going to get to see my parents, who are in Vegas right now, and our vacation plans are thankfully overlapping enough that we can see each other.

I’m looking forward to a very enjoyable trip.

521,600 minutes, how do you measure a year

My how time flies. I went to my blog today and noticed, low and behold, that I hadn’t updated it in over a year (15 months to be more exact) and a lot certainly has happened in that year. With this new post I have also replaced my old blogging software (I was never quite happy with Blog:CMS) with WordPress, which I was reluctant to try, but now I find it to be such a good blogging software that I have no idea what I had against it for so long.

The Vacation

Note added May 2006 – I once had a nice intro passage here, but as this trip was to see my then Girlfriend, and we have had a parting of the ways since it seems that she got into my site and edited the intro paragraph at some point since the breakup.  I can’t remember what was once here so I won’t even try to rewrite it, just know that what is enclosed in this blog entry was the story of the trip I took to Tennessee to visit her and to try and get a job so I could move closer to her.  In hindsight, I’m rather glad I didn’t get that job actually.

Communication

Note in May 2006 – Once again I find an article that has been edited by my ex, I am not sure what was in the beginning of this article before, but I’m sure it was an article about my trip to Arkansas with the SWD to a Team Leadership Conference.  It was a very nice article about what the conference was about, communicating.  I am quite annoyed to find it removed.

Plug-in Crazy

As most of you have probably figured out by now, i suck at graphical interfaces, and as part of that, I can’t create a good looking template, I compensate for my lack of creative juices by making my sites and blog do as much as humanly possible. Unlike my friends like JMac and Andy who actually have decent looking sites, mine is ugly but does as much as possible. The latest plug-in I installed? A Plug-in to generate animated maps automatically, like this one, which shows a pan from my
home to mid Tennessee (A Trip I’ve done before that I’m just dying to duplicate as soon as possible). Plug-ins are
fun, I should look into writing a few of my own, rather then just modifying the ones made by others to tweak them the way I want them.

Cleaning Up and Clearing Out

This record is of the events of Thursday, February 26th. Shortly after I got up on Thursday I received a call from my father telling me he was planning on taking off from work early and that he was going to go with me over to Metrotime to be my witness so I can go and get my stuff out of the grips of Harold.

As I was getting ready I almost wore my WCW shirt because of what he had said in his reply to my letter: “Go back to WCW with my blessing.” I decided against it however and wore one of my normal pullover shirts. I did make sure and in the box of the few things I had of Metrotime’s, I placed the Metrotime shirt that he had given me at one point. This is not just a statement about how separate from Metrotime I am now, but quite frankly I didn’t want that in my closet, I only ever wore it when I went to work and not all the time then, it is an UGLY shirt with a very ugly color combination.

Back online and battling the flu

Well it has been well over a month since I last posted a log entry and that is because when i moved the SubspaceLink over to its new home I didn’t copy over an important part of the Movable Type blog system, the database, and being lazy as I was I kept procrastinating when it came to doing it from that point on.

Conference, Visits, and Cuba

It has been a very long week.

I was running the A/V system for the annual district conference of the Southwestern District of the C&MA, long days but a lot of fun overall.

Then Friday I took a quick trip out to TN to meet with D, a most enjoyable if sadly short encounter, flew there Friday afternoon, met her in the evening, and flew home Saturday morning.

Went to the movie theater last night and saw The Fighting Temptations, was pretty good but I felt a bit out of place as I was the only white guy in the theater, although there were several white guys in the film. The movie itself was good and the music was fun, although I don’t generally listen to Gospel style music, it’s fun every once in a while and it was fun to see a movie with a decent story and a family friendly environment. So give it a try.

This morning I felt quite sick with the flu so I didn’t go to church, more for being worried that I would infect the congregation then for my own purposes, so I spent most of today playing Warcraft III and then editing some ACTD transcripts for the Artemis.

That’s about all for tonight I guess, ttyl
